The University of the Pacific women’s soccer team fell 4-1 to Cal Poly on September 10, 2026, in a Big West Conference game at Knoles Field in Stockton, California. Pacific trailed 1-0 at halftime after Cal Poly’s Miah Thomas converted a penalty kick in the 40th minute.

The Mustangs pulled away with two more goals shortly thereafter. Isis Salazar-Ortega scored in the 72nd minute and Ruby Casey added another in the 78th minute, securing a 4-1 victory for Cal Poly.

Freshman goalkeeper Ava Wells made three saves to help keep the Tigers in contention, while sophomore Carly Hall made her first collegiate start and played 35 minutes. Despite the loss, Pacific battled hard and finished with seven total shots, including two on goal.

Pacific’s record dropped to 0-7-0 to start the season, while Cal Poly improved to 3-2-2. Pacific will host Cal State Bakersfield on Sunday at noon for Senior Day, honoring five players following the game.

CSB Take

Pacific women’s soccer demonstrated determination against Cal Poly but could not overcome the early penalty kick goal and the Mustangs’ strong second-half offense. Kaya Rosa’s goal sparked a brief rally, underscoring her importance to the team as a senior leader. The Tigers now face the challenge of capturing their first win of the season, and the upcoming Senior Day match offers a critical opportunity to rally with the support of their departing players. Development of younger players like Ava Wells and Carly Hall will be essential for Pacific’s progress moving forward.
