Pacific now stands at 3-4 on the season.

STOCKTON, Calif. – The University of the Pacific Tigers men’s water polo team fell 19-6 to the No. 3 Stanford Cardinal on September 13, 2026, at Chris Kjeldsen Pool at Douglass M. Eberhardt Aquatics Center. With the loss, Pacific’s record dropped to 3-4, while Stanford improved to 5-0.

Stanford dominated early with a four-goal run in the first quarter. Pacific’s juniors Yoav Rendler and Ori Buzaglo led the Tigers with multiple goals each, supported by sophomore Borisz Kasa-Gal and freshman Gabor Holl. Despite these efforts, a defining nine-goal run by Stanford stretched from just before halftime into the second half, extending the Cardinal’s lead significantly.

Pacific was outshot 33-24 in the game. Sophomore goalie Gergely Kiss registered six saves in goal. The Tigers excelled defensively in steals, tallying six compared to Stanford’s one, paced by Rendler and freshman Enzo Fernandez who each recorded two steals.

Pacific will next travel to Southern California, facing Long Beach State on September 25 and USC on September 27.

CSB Take

The Pacific Tigers men’s water polo team faced a challenging opponent in No. 3 Stanford and struggled to contain the Cardinal’s offensive pressure, resulting in a lopsided defeat. However, Pacific’s ability to generate steals and the contributions from multiple underclassmen offer encouraging signs for future games. As the Tigers prepare for upcoming contests against Long Beach State and USC, these performances provide a base to build upon in their Mountain Pacific Sports Federation campaign.
