Nine players from the San Diego Wave FC women’s soccer team have received international call-ups for the October 2026 FIFA window, representing five national teams across senior and youth levels. The selections underscore the Wave FC roster’s growing impact on the global stage.

Kennedy Wesley and Trinity Byars were named to the U.S. Women’s National Team for two matches against reigning FIFA Women’s World Cup champion Spain. Wesley, a defender who debuted with the senior national team in October 2025 and scored her first international goal in April 2026, earned her second senior call-up. Byars, a forward, received her first senior national team call-up after a breakout NWSL season marked by 10 goals and three assists.

The U.S. U-23 team includes Wave FC players Kimmi Ascanio, Melanie Barcenas, and Gia Corley. Ascanio and Barcenas are the youngest on the roster and bring experience from the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. Corley, a midfielder with dual U.S. and German citizenship from Tacoma, Washington, has represented both countries at youth levels.

Barbara Bonansea continues to contribute to Italy’s senior women’s national team, having been a key player since 2012 and competed in two FIFA Women’s World Cups and three UEFA European Championships. Luisa Agudelo joins Colombia’s senior national team following a bronze medal performance at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, where she earned two Player of the Match awards, including in the bronze medal match.

Mimi Van Zanten was called to the Jamaica women’s national team for friendlies against Mexico, having previously played at youth levels for the U.S. before switching allegiance to Jamaica. Laila Harbert will join England’s U-23 squad defending their European Championship title and aiding qualification efforts for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, having started every game for England’s U-19 team during qualification.

International fixtures involving these players’ national teams are scheduled from October 9 to 13 and will take place at venues in the United States, Mexico, Venezuela, and England.
