Oceanside, CA – Vladimir Fadeev scored a hat trick, including the overtime game-winning goal, to lead the Oceanside Shock to their first franchise victory with a 5-4 overtime win against the Stockton Thunder at Frontwave Arena on October 11, 2026.
Fadeev’s decisive goal came 27 seconds into sudden-death overtime. Oceanside captain Matt O’Dea won the puck from the Stockton defense and passed to Fadeev, who fired a wrist shot that found the back of the net, securing the win for the Shock and improving their record to 1-2-0 with two points.
The game featured a dramatic comeback by Oceanside. Fadeev scored twice in the third period—once on the power play and once while short-handed—to tie the game at 4-4 after Stockton had taken the lead twice in the final frame. Stockton’s discipline faltered in the third period, taking six minor penalties, which gave Oceanside nearly 12 minutes of power play time, though Stockton’s penalty kill remained effective for most of it.
Stockton opened scoring with the first goal in franchise history by Daniil Nikiforov on a power play late in the first period. Nolan Mix, Ilnur Madiarov, and Payton Jones also scored for Stockton. Oceanside’s goals came from Vladimir Fadeev, Akhmed Malsagov, and Nathan Carl.
Oceanside played despite fatigue and injuries, missing three players and signing new forwards Jeramy Razaeepour and Sean Reynolds just before the game. Reynolds contributed an assist in his debut, and both signees made strong plays on both ends of the ice. Stockton goaltender William Augustine made 48 saves but allowed the overtime winner.
The teams will meet 17 times during the season, with the next two games scheduled for October 17 at Adventist Health Arena in Stockton and October 18 at Frontwave Arena in Oceanside, the latter designated as “Stick it to Cancer Night.”
