Ducks roll past Jets 5–1 with balanced scoring in Winnipeg

Anaheim received goals from five different players and ended Winnipeg's three-game winning streak on Oct. 9.

The Anaheim Ducks beat the Winnipeg Jets 5–1 at Canada Life Centre on Oct. 9. Judd Caulfield, Tim Washe and Mikael Granlund each recorded a goal and an assist. The result moved Anaheim to 3–1–0 and ended Winnipeg's three-game winning streak.

Early goals give Anaheim control

Caulfield opened the scoring in the first period with his first NHL goal. Washe added a second-period goal, giving the Ducks a two-goal lead before the final frame. Jeff Malott assisted on both of those scores.

Sam Colangelo pushed Anaheim ahead 3–0 early in the third period. Kyle Connor then scored for Winnipeg, but Granlund answered to restore the three-goal margin. Nikita Nesterenko supplied the final goal into an empty net.

Production comes from across the lineup

Lukas Dostal made 15 saves for Anaheim. Malott and Beckett Sennecke each finished with two assists, giving the Ducks useful production from several parts of the lineup. The road win followed Anaheim's loss to Edmonton earlier in the week.

CSB Take

This was a useful example of the Ducks spreading the scoring load. Multiple lines created goals, and Anaheim answered quickly enough after Winnipeg scored to keep control of the finish. That combination makes the offense harder to contain than a night when it depends on one line for every chance.
