The Antelope Valley College Marauders beat the Victor Valley College Rams 39–29 in football Saturday, Oct. 10, at Marauder Stadium. Antelope Valley earned its fifth consecutive victory. The Marauders improved to 5–1 overall and 2–0 in Metro League play.
How the homecoming win developed
Tyson Smith completed 19 of 29 passes for 266 yards and two touchdowns. Felix Diaz scored twice on 1-yard runs. Antelope Valley built a 23–9 halftime lead.
Shakir Freeman blocked a field-goal attempt and returned the recovered ball 50 yards for a touchdown before halftime. The Marauders extended the lead to 39–21 after three quarters. Victor Valley added eight fourth-quarter points but could not complete the comeback.
CSB Take
Antelope Valley built enough of a cushion to withstand a late response. The blocked-kick touchdown was a major contribution beyond the offense. The Rams need to prevent those extra scoring opportunities from widening a competitive game.
