San Diego FC helped dedicate a newly enhanced soccer arena at the YMCA Escondido Campus, the club reported Oct. 1. The project involved the YMCA of San Diego County and DIRECTV. The ceremony marked the completion of the community playing space.
The project and dedication
The dedication brought together community leaders, families and project partners. San Diego players Christopher McVey, Manu Duah and Bryan Zamblé took part. YMCA program participants also shared their experiences during the event.
The partners closed the ceremony with a symbolic first goal. The project is part of San Diego FC’s Parks & Pitches community work. That program connects playing spaces with local artists and neighborhood participation.
CSB Take
The completed arena gives the partnership a concrete community asset. Its value will depend on how regularly local young people and families can use it. Keeping the space active is the next step after the dedication.
