California WUL clubs had six players on the announced All-Star roster as the Western Ultimate League joined an Aug. 25 statement reaffirming its commitment to gender inclusion. The statement preceded the planned multi-league weekend in Madison on Aug. 27–28.
The statement and California’s roster representation
The Ultimate Frisbee Association, Premier Ultimate League and Madison Ultimate Frisbee Association joined the WUL in the statement. The organizations said they remained committed to providing inclusive environments for their athletes.
The previously announced WUL roster included two players each from the Bay Area Falcons, Los Angeles Astra and San Diego Super Bloom. The July 27 selections connected all three California clubs to the planned All-Star event.
CSB Take
The statement addressed league-wide participation policies ahead of the event. For California’s clubs, that context accompanied an All-Star roster that included six of their players and San Diego coach Jonathan Helton.
