49ers beat the Seahawks 32–29 to remain unbeaten at 5–0

San Francisco stays unbeaten after four defensive takeaways and two fourth-quarter scoring drives deliver a 32–29 win in Seattle.

The San Francisco 49ers defeated the Seattle Seahawks 32–29 at Lumen Field on Oct. 11 to improve to 5–0. San Francisco forced four turnovers and finished the game with two scoring drives in the fourth quarter. The 49ers beat the Seahawks after overcoming a 26–21 deficit entering the final period.

Takeaways build the early lead

Renardo Green intercepted Sam Darnold twice, including a takeaway on Seattle's first possession. That opening interception set up Brock Purdy's two-yard touchdown pass to Mike Evans. Fred Warner later forced a fumble that Malik Mustapha recovered, and Christian McCaffrey scored on an 11-yard run.

Gracen Halton added a defensive touchdown by forcing a fumble near Seattle's goal line and recovering the ball in the end zone. Those short fields helped San Francisco build a 21–13 halftime lead. Seattle's own takeaways and scoring drives then erased that advantage, forcing the 49ers to respond late.

Purdy finishes the comeback

Purdy led a 74-yard touchdown drive that ended with a seven-yard pass to Brandin Cooks. Evans caught the ensuing two-point conversion, putting San Francisco ahead 29–26. After Seattle tied the score, Eddy Piñeiro's field goal restored the lead with less than two minutes remaining.

The final stop belonged to Mustapha, who tackled Cooper Kupp short of the line to gain on fourth down. San Francisco also recorded five sacks in a game that tested both its pass rush and its composure. Purdy finished with 189 passing yards and two touchdowns, while Evans caught seven passes for 113 yards and a score.

Washington is next

The 49ers return home to face the Washington Commanders on Monday, Oct. 19. Kickoff at Levi's Stadium is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. Pacific, with ESPN and ABC carrying the game. San Francisco will carry its perfect record into that matchup after surviving a close divisional road test.

CSB Take

San Francisco earned this win with takeaways and late execution. The offense still needs to avoid the mistakes that allowed Seattle back into the game. A defense that creates short fields, paired with a quarterback who finishes fourth-quarter drives, gives the 49ers a strong foundation for the next test.
