Mike Evans caught seven passes for 113 yards and a touchdown as the San Francisco 49ers defeated the Seattle Seahawks 32–29 on Oct. 11. It was his first 100-yard receiving game with San Francisco. Evans also caught a two-point conversion that helped the 49ers take the lead during their fourth-quarter comeback.
A milestone and a late-game impact
The touchdown came early, when Brock Purdy found Evans for a two-yard score after a defensive takeaway. That catch gave Evans 111 career receiving touchdowns. He tied Pro Football Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez for ninth on the NFL's career list, according to San Francisco's official postgame statistics.
Evans' larger contribution came when San Francisco needed to move the ball late. He made a downfield catch during the drive that ended with Purdy's seven-yard touchdown pass to Brandin Cooks. Evans then completed the two-point play, giving the 49ers a 29–26 lead before Seattle tied the game again.
Production through a rib injury
The performance came while Evans continued to deal with a rib injury suffered in Week 3 against the Arizona Cardinals. The team's Oct. 12 report described how he worked through discomfort and received support from its training staff. His availability on Sunday did not establish a medical timetable or guarantee his status for later games.
Seattle limited San Francisco to 269 total yards, so the 49ers needed timely plays rather than steady production throughout the afternoon. Evans supplied an important part of that late offense. San Francisco eventually moved into field-goal range, and its defense stopped Seattle's final possession to protect the win.
A veteran connection to watch
The outing was the 40th 100-yard receiving game of Evans' NFL career, according to the 49ers. San Francisco now prepares to host the Washington Commanders on Oct. 19. That matchup offers the next chance to see how Purdy and Evans build on the connection they showed in Seattle.
CSB Take
Evans gave San Francisco a receiver it could trust in a difficult finish. The touchdown mattered, but his catches during the comeback and the two-point play showed why his role extends beyond a single scoring chance. Keeping that connection productive will help the 49ers when their offense has to answer late in close games.
