The Stockton Kings acquired the returning-player rights to guard Trhae Mitchell from the Lakeside Squadron, the team announced Oct. 6. Stockton sent its first-round pick in the 2026 NBA G League Draft in exchange. The trade adds another experienced player’s rights to the Sacramento Kings affiliate.
The trade and development context
Mitchell has played six G League seasons with Rio Grande Valley and Lakeside. He was part of Rio Grande Valley’s 2021–22 championship team. He also earned G League All-Defensive Team recognition in 2023–24.
The deal followed Stockton’s Oct. 1 trade for the rights to David Muoka and Kacper Klaczek. Those transactions have expanded the club’s options before the season. Mitchell’s defensive background is a notable part of the latest acquisition.
CSB Take
Stockton used draft capital to obtain an experienced player’s returning rights. That choice places value on a known professional background. The next roster decisions will show how the acquired rights translate into playing roles.
