LA Launch lost in straight sets to Austin Aces in men’s AVP League play on Aug. 8 at Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas.
A long second set ends in Austin’s favor
Troy Field and Ryan Wilcox represented Austin against Hagen Smith and Logan Webber. The second set reached 28-26 before Austin completed the sweep.
The AVP’s subsequent season review confirmed Austin won both Dallas-weekend matches in straight sets to qualify for the championship field. LA also made the six-team men’s field.
CSB Take
LA pushed the second set well beyond the usual finishing score. Austin still supplied the final two-point margin and closed the match without a third set.
