Jimmy Huntington scored twice and added an assist, but the San Jose Barracuda lost to the Tucson Roadrunners 7–4 on Oct. 9. San Jose rallied to tie the game in the second period at Tech CU Arena. Tucson moved back ahead before the intermission and scored both third-period goals.
How the game unfolded
Huntington opened the scoring before Tucson answered with three consecutive goals. Filip Bystedt later scored on the power play, and Brendan Hoffmann helped start another San Jose response in the second period. Huntington’s second goal made it 4–4 before Vadim Moroz restored the Roadrunners’ lead.
San Jose recorded 36 shots, with Michael Hrabal stopping 32 for Tucson. Eric Comrie made 24 saves for the Barracuda, and the final Tucson goal went into an empty net. Gabe Smith recorded four assists for the Roadrunners.
CSB Take
San Jose showed it could produce enough offense to recover from an early deficit. The harder lesson concerns what happened after the game was tied, when Tucson immediately regained control. Turning that kind of rally into points requires the Barracuda to defend the next few possessions as carefully as they attack.
