Freshman McKenna Kehoe led the CCAA in digs per set and was named FloCollege/CCAA Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for Sept. 7-13, 2026, marking Cal State San Marcos' first conference weekly honor since 2023.

McKenna Kehoe, a freshman setter and defensive specialist for the Cal State San Marcos Cougars women’s volleyball team, was named the FloCollege/California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for September 7-13, 2026. Kehoe led the conference with 5.29 digs per set during the opening week of CCAA play.

Kehoe totaled 37 digs in seven sets, alongside four aces and 11 assists, helping Cal State San Marcos achieve a 1-1 conference record that week. She posted 20 digs, eight assists and two aces in a four-set match against Cal State East Bay. Against San Francisco State, Kehoe contributed 17 digs and two aces as the Cougars completed a sweep.

Currently, Kehoe ranks 10th in the CCAA with an average of 3.24 digs per set. She is the first Cal State San Marcos student-athlete to earn a CCAA weekly honor since Tori Goff in 2023. The Cougars will continue conference play with upcoming road matches at UC Merced on September 18 and at No. 4 Fresno Pacific on September 19.

CSB Take

McKenna Kehoe’s defensive prowess early in the season is a key boost for Cal State San Marcos as it navigates the challenging CCAA schedule. Her immediate impact as a freshman reflects the program’s ability to develop defensive specialists who can influence match outcomes. Kehoe’s recognition also signals positive momentum for the Cougars as they aim to improve their standing in conference play.
