California State University, Chico student-athletes returned to campus in fall 2026 to enhanced athletic facilities aimed at supporting their success on and off the field. The hardwood floors in Acker Gym and Shurmer Gym were refinished, featuring a bold Wildcat logo at center court that brightens the venues.
The university also opened a dedicated Student Success Center providing a space for student-athletes to study, connect and recharge. Additionally, team and staff spaces were refreshed, new building signage installed, and landscaping and accessibility improvements completed along Warner Street. These projects contribute to a more welcoming and supportive environment for student-athletes, campus visitors and the broader community.
These facility improvements were made possible by community investment in Chico State Athletics. To build upon this momentum, the university is conducting its annual Back the ‘Cats giving campaign from September 14-20, 2026. Donations during the campaign support athletics facilities, scholarships, equipment and travel, providing essential resources for student-athlete competition and academic excellence.
