The College of Alameda announced March 18 that its intercollegiate athletics program would end at the conclusion of spring 2026.
The remaining basketball program is affected
The remaining men’s basketball program was affected by the decision. A Peralta Community College District spokesperson cited the inability to maintain a women’s sports team and gender-equity requirements.
The district said student-athlete opportunities remained at Laney College and Merritt College. Alameda’s last listed men’s basketball season ended with an 11-15 record.

The announcement ended the college’s intercollegiate program after its final basketball season. The district directed athletes toward opportunities at its other Oakland campuses.
