The Concordia University Irvine Golden Eagles defeated the Vanguard Lions 4–0 in women’s soccer on Oct. 10 in Irvine. Four players scored as Concordia broke a scoreless tie shortly before halftime. The Golden Eagles improved to 6–1–4 overall and 3–0–1 in PacWest play.

Four scorers build the win

Mia Psarras opened the scoring in the 44th minute from a Katelynn Welch corner kick. Sloane De Torres doubled the lead in the 51st minute from an Ashley Grubert assist. Grubert and Lana Stewart added the final two goals.

Welch finished with two assists, while Christina Sidoti and Bella Miseroy combined for four saves. Vanguard put four attempts on goal but could not find a response. Concordia scored on each of its four shots on target.

CSB Take

Concordia turned its best chances into a decisive result without needing a large shot advantage. Welch’s service and goals from four different players kept the attack varied. Vanguard needs more effective defending around those key chances and stronger finishing at the other end.
