The Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners and UC Irvine Anteaters played to a 0–0 men’s soccer draw on Oct. 10 at Main Soccer Field in Bakersfield. Zenden Hart made three saves, including a first-half penalty-kick stop. Both teams earned a point in the Big West standings.
Hart denies the penalty
Hart denied Gage Lyons from the penalty spot in the 16th minute. He made another first-half save and added a stop after the break. The shutout was Cal State Bakersfield’s second in consecutive matches during the week.
UC Irvine finished with eight shots to the Roadrunners’ seven. Cal State Bakersfield put two attempts on goal, with Jesse Wangusi and Nils Heinrich each testing the goalkeeper. Neither attack found the finish needed to break the tie.
CSB Take
Hart’s penalty save prevented the match from turning into a chase for the home side. Cal State Bakersfield protected that reprieve with another steady defensive result. UC Irvine created the clearest early opportunity but left with a draw after failing to convert it.
