IRVINE, Calif. – Senior outside hitter Hailey Brockway of the California State University Northridge (CSUN) Matadors women’s volleyball team was named Big West Offensive Player of the Week on September 14, 2026. Brockway earned the distinction after spearheading the Matadors to a championship at the Linda Murphy Ridge Invitational held in Irvine.
Brockway, who was also named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, averaged 4.75 kills per set throughout the Invitational. She helped CSUN secure victories over UNLV, San Francisco, and Fresno State, evening the Matadors’ season record at 4-4.
Her standout performances included 19 kills and 11 digs in a thrilling five-set win over UNLV, a career-high 26 kills in a 3-1 triumph against San Francisco, and 12 kills in a straight-set sweep of Fresno State. The senior from Graham, Washington marked the first Big West Offensive Player of the Week honor for a CSUN player since Amaris Smith received the award in 2024.
CSUN head coach Aquiles Montoya praised Brockway’s comprehensive skill set, stating, “When Hailey is on, she’s a really special player. There was no doubt at times where the ball was going to go, and she took over a couple sets for us during crunch time. While she won the Offensive Player of the Week, we really feel her skill in both the front row, back row and service line is what makes her so valuable to this team. I‘m happy for her to be recognized by our conference and as the tournament MVP.”
Looking ahead, CSUN will conclude their non-conference schedule with a pair of matches against Loyola Marymount University, traveling to LMU on Thursday at 6 p.m. and hosting the Lions on Saturday at 1 p.m.
CSB Take
Hailey Brockway’s performance signals a rising offensive force for the CSUN Matadors women’s volleyball team early in the 2026 season. Her ability to consistently deliver high kill counts and contribute defensively underscores her value on both ends of the court. This recognition not only elevates Brockway’s profile within the Big West Conference but also positions CSUN as a team to watch as conference play approaches.
