The San Jose Earthquakes duo of Earl Edwards Jr. and Dave Romney earned MLS Team of the Matchday recognition for Matchday 29. Both contributed to the 1–1 draw at Colorado on Oct. 10. Each received his first selection of the season.
The performances behind the selections
Romney scored the equalizer in the 57th minute. Edwards finished with nine saves, including a late stop on Darren Yapi. Their work helped extend San Jose’s unbeaten league run to seven matches.
Romney was included among the selected defenders. Edwards received recognition on the Team of the Matchday bench. The honors followed a road result that required contributions at both ends of the field.

The selections reflect the importance of one finish and several key saves. San Jose needed both to preserve its unbeaten streak. Repeating those performances across the remaining fixtures matters more than the individual recognition alone.
