The Hope International University men’s soccer team lost 4-0 to The Master’s University in a GSAC conference game at Reese Field in Santa Clarita, California, on September 30, 2026.

The Master’s dominated, outshooting Hope International 22-12 and recording 12 shots on goal to the Royals’ three. Trent Rickard led the Mustangs with two goals, including a penalty kick, and two assists. Jaime Dominguez and Zenden Berbari added one goal each.

The Royals were disadvantaged when defender Christopher Ferrufino received a red card with about 15 minutes remaining in the first half, forcing Hope International to play a man down. Despite this, goalkeeper Tyler Beehler delivered a career-best performance with eight saves to limit the scoring.

The Master’s first goal came on a penalty kick awarded after a foul on Beehler. Rickard converted by placing the ball in the lower left corner. For the second goal, Rickard launched a pass from 40 yards that led to Dominguez scoring with an assist from Silas Chavez. The Mustangs extended their lead with goals from Rickard in the 62nd minute and Berbari in the 83rd.

In the second half, Hope International increased offensive pressure, with Ignacio Fonseca and Anthony Youssef forcing saves from The Master’s goalkeeper Franco Barba. However, the Royals were unable to find the net.

Hope International will host Ottawa University Arizona at the OC Great Park on Saturday, October 3, 2026, with kickoff scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

CSB Take

This defeat underscores the impact of playing a man down following a first-half red card for Hope International. Goalkeeper Tyler Beehler’s eight saves were a bright spot and demonstrated strong individual effort despite the team’s defensive struggles. The Royals will need to improve their defensive discipline and offensive execution to be more competitive in GSAC play. Their upcoming home match offers an opportunity to reset and gain momentum.
