Merrill scores and creates

Merrill finished a give-and-go with James Haynes just 55 seconds into the match. Dominican nearly equalized when Adrian Garcia struck the crossbar after halftime. Friesen then scored in the 84th minute from a Merrill free kick.

Point Loma held a 15–12 advantage in shots and a 7–4 edge in shots on goal. Colin Nestor made four saves for Dominican, which earned eight corner kicks but could not convert. The Penguins fell to 2–4–4 overall and 1–1–1 in the conference.

CSB Take

Point Loma gained an early advantage and found the goal needed to make it secure late. Dominican generated enough pressure to threaten but could not finish its best opportunities. The Sea Lions’ ability to protect a narrow lead gave their late attacking chance greater value.
