The Ontario Reign rallied from a two-goal deficit to defeat the Coachella Valley Firebirds 3–2 in overtime at Acrisure Arena on Oct. 11. Cole Guttman scored the winner four minutes into the extra period. The victory reversed a game that had favored Coachella Valley early in the second period.
How the game unfolded
Eduard Sale opened the scoring for the Firebirds, and Lleyton Roed extended their lead to 2–0. Martin Chromiak answered before Lane Pederson tied the score later in the second period. Neither team scored in the third, leaving the deciding goal for overtime.
Carter George made 15 saves for Ontario, while Victor Ostman stopped 36 shots for Coachella Valley. The Reign outshot the Firebirds 39–17 overall. Ontario’s pressure became especially clear over the final two regulation periods, when it held a 30–12 edge in shots.
CSB Take
Ontario’s comeback was built on sustained pressure rather than a single fortunate bounce. Coachella Valley collected a standings point, but surrendering a two-goal lead leaves clear work for the defensive review. For both teams, this was a reminder that the first part of a game does not settle how the final points are divided.
