San Diego State University announced the non-conference slate for the San Diego State Aztecs women’s basketball team for the 2026-27 season. This follows the Aztecs’ impressive 27-win campaign in 2025-26, which tied a school record for most wins in a season.
The 15-game non-conference schedule features five opponents who qualified for postseason play the previous year. The Aztecs will participate in two holiday tournaments: the Rainbow Wahine Showdown in Hawai’i and the West Palm Beach Classic in Florida. Notably, nine of these games will be played on the road or at neutral sites, including a demanding stretch of eight consecutive away games.
The season opens on Nov. 2 at home against Cal State Fullerton, a team the Aztecs have beaten in 11 of the last 12 meetings. Early home games also include North Texas on Nov. 5, UTSA on Nov. 8, and Colorado on Nov. 11, all of whom posted successful seasons last year. The Aztecs then travel to CSUN for a Nov. 19 road game, followed by a home contest versus Winthrop on Nov. 22 – marking the program’s first meeting with the Eagles.
At the Rainbow Wahine Showdown from Nov. 27-29, SDSU faces Hawai’i, Stanford, and Columbia. The Aztecs then continue Northern California road games with visits to Santa Clara on Dec. 3, Saint Mary’s on Dec. 9, and Pacific on Dec. 11. The West Palm Beach Classic in Florida Dec. 20-21 features matchups against IU Indy and Saint Louis, both first-time opponents for SDSU. Non-conference play concludes with a home game against Point Loma on Dec. 29.
The team returns seven players, including four starters, from last season’s Mountain West regular season champions who matched the school record for wins. The women’s basketball program has set attendance records in each of the last three years, and season tickets are currently available.
CSB Take
The rigorous non-conference schedule laid out by the San Diego State Aztecs women’s basketball team promises a stern test early in the 2026-27 season. Facing multiple postseason-caliber teams and enduring extended road trips will challenge the squad and prepare them well for Mountain West Conference competition. With key starters returning and growing fan support reflected in attendance records, the Aztecs are positioned to build on their historic season and continue elevating their program’s profile nationally.
