San Diego State Women’s Soccer Falls 4-1 to Boise State in Pac-12 Opener

San Diego State women's soccer fell 4-1 to Boise State in their Pac-12 opener despite controlling shots and possession. Victoria Miller scored on a penalty, but Boise State's Campbell Wilson netted two goals to lead the Broncos.

The San Diego State University women’s soccer team dropped its Pac-12 Conference opener, falling 4-1 to the Boise State Broncos on October 1, 2026. The match took place at the SDSU Sports Deck in San Diego, California.

Boise State struck first with an early goal in the 14th minute, but San Diego State’s Victoria Miller converted a penalty kick just before halftime to tie the score 1-1. In the second half, Boise State pulled away by scoring three additional goals, including two by freshman Campbell Wilson, who scored her ninth goal of the season.

Despite the loss, San Diego State led in key categories, including shots on goal (9-8), time of possession (53%-43%), and corner kicks (10-5). Goalkeeper Kailey Carlen made multiple saves to keep the Aztecs competitive through much of the match. However, San Diego State’s challenge was hindered when Lily Boudet received a second yellow card in the second half and was sent off.

Boise State finished the match with more overall shots (16-14), saves (8-4), and fouls committed (11-8). San Diego State looks to bounce back on the road against No. 22 Texas State on October 4, 2026.

CSB Take

San Diego State demonstrated offensive effort and maintained greater possession in its Pac-12 debut, but Boise State’s efficient finishing made the difference. The ejection of Lily Boudet disrupted the Aztecs’ defensive stability and hampered their chances. Moving forward, discipline and finishing consistency will be vital as San Diego State seeks to establish itself in the competitive Pac-12 Conference. Their upcoming contest against a ranked Texas State squad provides an important chance to improve results and build momentum.
