The Los Angeles Sparks signed guard Shyanne Sellers to a Player Development Pool contract in a late August announcement. Sellers had joined Dallas on a training camp contract earlier in 2026. The Sparks’ move added another development opportunity to her professional path.
How the match unfolded
The Golden State Valkyries selected Sellers 17th overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft. Before entering the league, she played four seasons at Maryland. She finished her college career with 1,676 points and 523 assists.
Sellers became Maryland’s first player to reach 1,500 points, 500 rebounds and 500 assists. Her senior season produced averages of 14.4 points, 4.1 assists and 3.8 rebounds. The Sparks highlighted her size and ability to create for teammates.
CSB Take
The announcement focused on developing a guard with a broad collegiate record. Scoring and passing give Sellers more than one skill to build upon. Turning those strengths into consistent professional contributions is the next challenge in her career.
