Stanford Cardinal Women’s Basketball Hosts UC Davis with Young Roster and Ambitious Nonconference Schedule

Stanford Cardinal women's basketball welcomes UC Davis on November 8, 2026, with a young roster and a challenging nonconference schedule featuring five Power 4 opponents and five road games. Standout guard Hailee Swain leads early scoring efforts as the team aims to build on recent successes and a strong WNBA alumnae legacy.

Stanford University will host the UC Davis Aggies women’s basketball team on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Maples Pavilion, The Farm. The game will be broadcast on ACCNX with Tim Swartz and Mary Murphy providing commentary, while Kevin Danna will handle radio coverage via GoStanford.com, the Stanford Athletics app, and Learfield’s Varsity Network.

Stanford enters the season with a 12-player roster comprising four freshmen, four sophomores, and four juniors, with no seniors or fifth-year players—a rarity among Power 4 programs. The Cardinal face an ambitious nonconference schedule featuring five Power 4 opponents and five true road games, the only Power 4 school to meet both benchmarks.

Guard Hailee Swain has made a strong early-season impact, posting 21 points in Stanford’s opener against Arizona and a career-high 22 points in a commanding 87-54 home victory over Saint Mary’s. Swain is the first Stanford guard to record back-to-back 20-point games to start a season since Kiana Williams in March 2021. In that home opener, forward Nora Ezike contributed career highs with 18 points, seven rebounds, and four steals. Stanford’s defense forced 25 turnovers, yielding 38 points off those steals, while the team notched 22 assists, surpassing its highest total from the previous season.

The roster includes seven newcomers, notably international transfers Ilse de Vries from the Netherlands and Inés Sotelo Míguez from Spain — the first Dutch and Spanish players in program history. Recently, Stanford celebrated alumna Ashten Prechtel’s WNBA championship with the Golden State Valkyries, marking Stanford’s eighth WNBA champion.

Historically, Stanford holds a 19-7 all-time series advantage against UC Davis and is 16-1 at home, with the last loss to the Aggies occurring in 1978. UC Davis begins its inaugural season in the Mountain West Conference and recently lost 76-72 at Eastern Washington, tying a school record with 17 three-pointers made.

CSB Take

Stanford Cardinal women’s basketball enters the 2026 season with a notably young and global roster. The team’s demanding nonconference slate will test their resilience and depth early on, with Hailee Swain emerging as a key offensive leader. The program’s rich legacy, highlighted by recent WNBA successes among alumnae, sets high expectations. How this young Cardinal squad adapts to the challenges of a rigorous schedule will shape their growth and accomplishments this season.
