University of the Pacific Women’s Soccer Wins 1-0 Over Cal State Bakersfield on Senior Day

University of the Pacific women's soccer defeated Cal State Bakersfield 1-0 on Senior Day, highlighted by Kaya Rosa's decisive goal and Ava Wells' first clean sheet.

On Senior Day at Knoles Field in Stockton, Calif., the University of the Pacific women’s soccer team secured a 1-0 victory over Cal State Bakersfield on September 13, 2026. Senior Kaya Rosa scored the game-winning goal in the 55th minute, her third of the season and second in two matches.

Rosa capitalized on a loose rebound following a shot by sophomore Kayla Pham to break the deadlock. The Tigers dominated offensively, outshooting Cal State Bakersfield 19-9, the most shots Pacific has recorded this season. Twelve different Pacific players attempted shots, with seven registering shots on target.

Freshman goalkeeper Ava Wells earned her first career clean sheet, making three saves and becoming the first Pacific freshman goalie since Lis Van Herwijnen last year to do so. Pacific controlled the match pace and also held an 8-6 advantage in corner kicks. The team will face UNLV next on Thursday, September 17, at 7 p.m. at Peter Johann Memorial Field.

CSB Take

Pacific’s narrow victory on Senior Day demonstrates the importance of experienced leadership and emerging contributors in building a competitive team. Kaya Rosa’s clutch scoring underlines her pivotal role in the Tigers’ offense, while Ava Wells’ milestone clean sheet signals a promising future in goal. Sustaining this momentum and offensive production will be essential as the Tigers continue their season.
