The LA Kings rookies defeated the Anaheim Ducks rookies 4-1 in the 2026 Rookie Faceoff, led by Koehn Ziemmer's two goals and key contributions from Liam Lefebvre and Grant Slukynsky.

The Los Angeles Kings rookies secured a 4-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks rookies on September 14, 2026, during the 2026 Rookie Faceoff tournament. Forward Koehn Ziemmer led the way by scoring two goals that set the tone for the Kings’ commanding win.

Ziemmer opened the scoring just before the 10-minute mark in the first period after receiving a stretch pass from defenseman Michael Mastrodominico, beating the Ducks’ goaltender Tomas Suchanek. Early in the second period, Ziemmer made it 2-0 when he converted a quick release following an offensive-zone faceoff win and pass from forward Grant Slukynsky.

The Ducks responded six minutes into the third period as Lucas Pettersson scored their lone goal with a one-timer from the right circle, trimming the lead to 2-1. Slukynsky, who also played goaltender, made a notable right-pad save earlier in the third period to help keep Anaheim within reach.

Los Angeles then closed out the scoring with two late goals from forward Liam Lefebvre. The first came after forward Jack Hughes won the puck on a forecheck and created a rebound that Lefebvre converted. Lefebvre added a second goal with a deflection off a shot from Mastrodominico, extending the Kings’ lead to 4-1.

The Kings rookies improved to an even 1-1 record in the tournament and prepare to face the Utah Mammoth on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
