California Redwoods midfielder Brian Tevlin won the 2026 George Boiardi Hard Hat Award, which honors the Premier Lacrosse League’s top short-stick defensive midfielder. The award was presented Sept. 18; the league published its feature on Tevlin Sept. 24.
Tevlin’s 2026 production

He recorded nine caused turnovers and 25 ground balls. The league’s feature credited him with leading those categories among short-stick defensive midfielders, excluding Philadelphia’s Zach Currier, who won Midfielder of the Year.
CSB Take
Tevlin’s recognition gives the Redwoods an individual highlight after their playoff exit. His scoring growth and defensive work show how much value California received from a player asked to contribute at both ends.
