California Redwoods general manager Joe Spallina identified consistency as a central concern in a season review published by the Premier Lacrosse League on Sept. 3. California’s year ended with a 15–14 quarterfinal loss to the Denver Outlaws on Aug. 29.
A strong start and an uneven finish
The Redwoods won four of their first six games. Their stronger opening stretch gave way to uneven performances later in the season, including games in which early offensive production did not last.
There were encouraging developments. The league’s review reported improved assists per game, shooting percentage and power-play percentage. Rookie Finn Thomson contributed nine points in four games, and Ryan Croddick made seven saves in the second half of the playoff loss.
CSB Take
The season review points to sustaining performance as California’s next challenge. Strong stretches kept the Redwoods competitive, but their playoff comeback could not erase the damage done before halftime.
