California Redwoods lost 15–14 to the Denver Outlaws in the Premier Lacrosse League quarterfinals Aug. 29 at TCO Stadium in Minneapolis. Their second-half rally fell one point short and ended California’s season.

How California’s comeback developed

Denver held a 5–4 lead after the first quarter and extended the advantage to five points by halftime. California changed goalkeepers at the break, with rookie Ryan Croddick replacing Dillon Ward.

Croddick made seven saves with a 70% save percentage. The Redwoods outscored Denver 2–1 in the third quarter, then answered a 14–9 fourth-quarter deficit with four straight goals to get within one.

CSB Take

California gave itself a chance by tightening the game after halftime. The early deficit still mattered: even a productive second half and improved goalkeeping left the Redwoods short of extending their postseason.
