San Diego Wave FC defender Mimi Van Zanten has signed a contract extension with the club through the 2029 National Womens Soccer League season, the team announced on October 22, 2026. Van Zanten delivered a standout rookie season after joining San Diego in December 2025, making 27 appearances and logging 2,130 minutes in the 2026 season.

Van Zanten scored her first professional goal on May 10, 2026, helping the Wave secure a 2-1 victory over Angel City FC. Originally signed through 2027 with options for 2028 and 2029, Van Zantens extension underscores the clubs confidence in her ongoing development. San Diego Wave FC General Manager Camille Ashton praised Van Zantens immediate and significant impact, highlighting her consistent contributions on both offense and defense.

Van Zanten arrived with a decorated collegiate background from Florida State University, where she won two NCAA Championships and two ACC Tournament titles. Internationally, she has made six appearances for the Jamaican Womens National Team since her senior debut in 2024 and previously competed for U.S. Soccer youth teams.
