Bay FC Falls 2-0 to Angel City FC in Final 2026 Road Match Featuring Emily Menges’ Return from Maternity Leave

Bay FC lost 2-0 at Angel City FC in their final 2026 road match, with veteran defender Emily Menges returning from maternity leave.

Bay FC fell 2-0 to Angel City FC on October 24, 2026, in their National Women’s Soccer League final road game of the season at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. The first half saw a scoreless contest before Angel City FC took control in the second half with goals by Gisele Thompson and Tiernan.

Bay FC goalkeeper Jordan Silkowitz recorded six saves, including a key stop just eight minutes into the match and another in the 56th minute, helping keep the team competitive despite the loss. Veteran defender Emily Menges made her first appearance since April 2025, returning from maternity leave in the closing moments of the match after a distinguished 12-season career.

Bay FC head coach Emma Coates called the match a “long, difficult night,” but highlighted the return of Menges who had worked hard to become fully available. Bay FC will conclude the 2026 season at home against San Diego Wave FC on November 1 at PayPal Park.

CSB Take

While Bay FC’s defense showed resilience through goalkeeper Jordan Silkowitz’s performance, the team was unable to generate offense against Angel City FC’s second-half surge. The return of seasoned defender Emily Menges could provide a much-needed leadership boost as Bay FC looks to finish the season strong at home. Their ability to integrate Menges into the lineup will be crucial in their push toward the 2026 NWSL playoffs.
