Ultimate Frisbee Association Announces 2027 Divisional Realignment and Enhanced Fan Engagement Plans

The Ultimate Frisbee Association confirmed its 2027 divisional realignment, returning San Diego Growlers and Vegas Bighorns to the West Division, increasing interdivisional play, and expanding streaming options on WatchUFA.tv.

Owners from every team in the Ultimate Frisbee Association (UFA) met in Washington, D.C., to discuss league updates ahead of the 2027 season, which marks the league’s 15th anniversary. The meeting confirmed divisional realignment involving the San Diego Growlers and Vegas Bighorns returning to the West Division after playing in the South Division recently.

For 2027, the South Division will consist of the Atlanta Hustle, Austin Sol, Carolina Flyers, and Houston Havoc. The West Division will include the Colorado Apex, Oakland Spiders, Salt Lake Shred, San Diego Growlers, Seattle Cascades, and Vegas Bighorns. The East and Central Divisions will remain unchanged.

UFA CEO and Commissioner Tim DeByl stated the realignment reflects a more natural geographic placement and acknowledged the teams that accommodated extra travel in previous seasons to support league operations. The 2027 schedule will feature more interdivisional games between the South, East, and Central Divisions to present more matchups between the league’s top teams while balancing travel costs.

The UFA’s “Friday Night Frisbee” weekly showcase reached nearly 7 million viewers in 2026, indicating rising fan interest. The league plans to add new features to WatchUFA.tv in 2027 to enable fans to watch any game from anywhere. Regarding the equipment, no changes are planned to the Professional Ultimate Frisbee disc for 2027, though previous adjustments have enhanced its flight consistency and wind resistance.

CSB Take

The Ultimate Frisbee Association’s 2027 divisional realignment reflects a strategic effort to improve geographic balance and competitive opportunities. Increasing interdivisional games among key divisions should heighten competition and fan engagement, a key step as the league grows. Expanded streaming options on WatchUFA.tv respond to rising viewership and demonstrate the league’s commitment to accessible fan experiences, laying groundwork for continued success into its 15th year.
