The Los Angeles Lakers beat the Sacramento Kings 127–103 at Golden 1 Center on Oct. 5 in the preseason opener for both teams. Los Angeles scored 73 points before halftime and made 20 three-pointers. The result gave the Lakers an early look at their scoring depth without affecting the regular-season standings.
The numbers behind the result
Luka Doncic finished with 21 points in just under 16 minutes. Cameron Carr added 19 off the bench, and Quentin Grimes scored 16. Los Angeles shot 20-for-44 from three-point range, spreading its offense beyond a single scorer.
Nique Clifford led Sacramento with 23 points and nine rebounds. Darius Acuff Jr. added 19 points and four assists, but the Kings committed 27 turnovers. Sacramento trailed 73–47 at halftime and could not erase that deficit over the final two quarters.
CSB Take
The Lakers can take encouragement from an offense that produced clean results across a broad rotation. Sacramento has individual performances to build on, but protecting the ball has to come before chasing the shooting margin. Preseason minutes are useful for testing combinations, and neither club should treat one exhibition score as a forecast for the entire season.
