IRVINE, Calif. Concordia University Irvine has announced the return of alumna Lauren Richter as an assistant coach for the CUI Women’s Basketball team. Richter brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to her alma mater as the program prepares for the 2026-27 season.
Richter, a native of Enid, Oklahoma, competed in over 50 games for Concordia from 2021 to 2023 after transferring from Southwestern College. She earned a master’s degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia, equipping her for a leadership role on the coaching staff.
Following her collegiate playing career, Richter played professionally in Honduras and served as an assistant coach at Jessup University. She also gained professional experience with the NBA G League Stockton Kings as a team attendant.
Head coach Christine Collins-Kiernan highlighted Richter’s impact on the program, noting her ability to connect with student-athletes and foster belief in their potential. “Lauren also brings joy, positive energy, and a culture-building attitude that is beneficial to the program,” Collins-Kiernan said.
The program also welcomed graduate assistant coach Dane Kiefer, who joins from San Diego State University where he managed the women’s basketball team and helped establish a men’s club team. Kiefer will focus primarily on player development, particularly among guards.
The Golden Eagles will open their 2026-27 campaign on November 9 at Fresno Pacific, with the home opener set for November 13 at CU Arena versus Stanislaus State.
