Los Angeles Knight Riders defeated the San Francisco Unicorns by seven runs in the Major League Cricket Qualifier on July 15 at Oakland Coliseum. Los Angeles posted 187/3, and San Francisco finished at 180/4.
Powell’s finish and San Francisco’s recovery
Colin Munro made 51, while Rovman Powell supplied an unbeaten 50 from 15 balls at the finish. Powell hit six sixes and two fours to help the Knight Riders set a target of 188.
San Francisco recovered from 3/2 behind captain Matt Short, who made 94, and Sanjay Krishnamurthi, who scored 57. Their partnership kept the chase competitive, but the Unicorns finished short of the target.
CSB Take
The win sent Los Angeles directly into the final. San Francisco retained another postseason opportunity through the Challenger, but its recovery in this match could not overcome the Knight Riders’ late batting surge.
