Macy Hinshaw, a junior setter from Fishers, Indiana, has emerged as a key playmaker for the Santa Clara Broncos women’s volleyball team. As of October 30, 2026, she ranks third nationally with 963 total assists and sixth with 10.94 assists per set, while leading the West Coast Conference in both categories.
Hinshaw’s volleyball career began at age eight, inspired by her eldest sister who is also a setter. She played club volleyball at Circle City in Indiana and trained under coach Mike Lingenfelter. She chose Santa Clara University attracted by the campus, coaching staff, players, and the goal of rebuilding the Broncos’ volleyball program.
Although undersized for front-row blocking, Hinshaw compensates with volleyball IQ and athleticism. Under head coach Erin Lindsey, a former North Carolina setter, she has focused on improving her vertical leap and blocking skills. Hinshaw works closely with the coaching staff to analyze opponents’ blocks, aiming to create scoring chances for hitters such as Morgan Hayes and Cate Shanahan.
The Broncos have developed strong team chemistry that enhances their on-court performance. Off the court, Hinshaw enjoys shopping at Santana Row and water sports at Dale Hollow Lake in Tennessee.
