The Monterey Amberjacks were left out of the 2026 Pecos League season plans, according to the March 9 league-and-franchise report.
The ballpark issue prevents the proposed return
The report said the club had not reached a suitable ballpark lease agreement with the city. It identified the Austin Weirdos as Monterey’s replacement in the Pacific Division.
That account followed January lease uncertainty and a March report about parks staff opposing a new agreement.
CSB Take
The dated reports show how the proposed return changed before the season. Monterey’s earlier announcement of a May 2026 start remained a proposal that did not become the reported league plan.
