Monterey parks staff recommended against a new 2026 agreement for the Monterey Amberjacks, according to a March 1 report on a city letter.

The staff letter changes the negotiating position

The report identified a Feb. 20 letter from Parks and Recreation Director Nicole Banks to Pecos League owner Andrew Dunn.

The proposal would have limited Sollecito Ballpark games to Sundays, with other games on the road. The staff recommendation was to be considered by the Parks and Recreation Commission.

CSB Take

A staff recommendation and a final commission decision are separate steps. The March report documented opposition to the proposal without establishing the outcome of a later vote.
