San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Niko Tsakiris was named to Major League Soccer’s Team of the Matchday for Matchday 25 after scoring one goal and providing two assists in the Earthquakes’ 3-2 road win over San Diego FC. The victory ended San Diego FC’s five-game home winning streak across all competitions.

Tsakiris opened the scoring in the third minute with a curled left-footed shot past goalkeeper CJ Dos Santos. He assisted Preston Judd’s 12th goal of the season with a precise diagonal pass in the 12th minute. Before halftime, Tsakiris contributed a left-footed trivela assist to Ousseni Bouda for the third Earthquakes goal.

This achievement marked Tsakiris’s third MLS Team of the Matchday honor this season and fourth overall. The 21-year-old midfielder from Saratoga, California, leads the team with 10 assists in MLS play.

The Earthquakes will next host Houston Dynamo FC at PayPal Park on September 12, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PT. The match will be broadcast on Apple TV and local radio stations KSFO 810 AM and La Kaliente 1370 AM.
