Stanislaus State Warriors Face Busy Week with Basketball Season Opening and Final Soccer Matches

Stanislaus State Warriors prepare for a busy week featuring women's basketball season openers, final soccer matches, volleyball conference games, and continued strong showings in cross country and golf.

The Stanislaus State Warriors athletics programs are set for a demanding week from October 26 through November 1, 2026, featuring key contests across several sports in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). The women’s basketball team will open its 2026-27 season with two NCAA Division I exhibition games, while both men’s and women’s soccer teams conclude their regular seasons with pivotal matches.

Under interim head coach Riley Holladay, the women’s basketball team will play exhibitions at Sacramento State on October 28 and Fresno State on October 30. Returning players include top rebounder and scorer Eryn Gardner, along with key contributors Quinn Garrett and Amya Vangkham-Griffin among six returning athletes.

The men’s and women’s soccer teams finish their CCAA regular-season schedules on October 29 with away games against Fresno Pacific University. The women’s team, holding a 7-5-4 overall record, aims to secure a spot in the CCAA Tournament, while the men’s team, despite going unbeaten in their last two matches, has been eliminated from postseason contention.

Volleyball resumes conference play at home with matches versus No. 4 Fresno Pacific on October 30 and UC Merced on October 31 at Fitzpatrick Arena. The team holds a 6-14 overall record and is 2-7 in CCAA play, striving for improvement in the season’s closing stages.

Stan State’s cross country teams continue strong campaigns. The women’s program remains ranked No. 14 nationally and No. 2 regionally in the West for the sixth consecutive week, following a second-place finish at the Bronco Invitational highlighted by Kekaihulali Halpern’s sixth-place run. The men’s team improved to No. 8 in the West Region; notable performer Jackson Oliveira placed fourth at the same meet and earned the FloCollege/CCAA Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week honor twice in the 2026 season.

Men’s golf, ranked No. 8 in the West Region, recently captured the RCA Electric Invitational with Mason Montgomery receiving the FloCollege/CCAA Golfer of the Week award. The program has concluded its fall season and will return to competition in February 2027.

The week’s activities will culminate with the opening round of the CCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament on November 1 as the Warriors look to extend their season into postseason play.

CSB Take

This week marks significant transition points for several Stanislaus State Warriors teams, with women’s basketball kicking off their season and soccer teams entering decisive late-season contests. Strong performances in cross country and golf further demonstrate the program’s competitiveness across sports. How the Warriors capitalize on these opportunities will shape momentum heading into the heart of the fall and winter seasons.
