Ryan Boatright, former UConn national champion and professional player, has joined the University of San Francisco men's basketball team as Assistant Coach and Director of Player Development.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — The University of San Francisco has announced the hiring of Ryan Boatright as Assistant Coach and Director of Player Development for its men’s basketball program.

Boatright brings an extensive basketball background to the Dons, having played professionally for 11 seasons. His career included time in the NBA G League with the Grand Rapids Drive, Agua Caliente Clippers, and Texas Legends, as well as overseas stints in Spain, France, Lithuania, and Trkiye.

Before turning professional, Boatright was a standout guard at the University of Connecticut. He played a key role in UConn’s 2014 NCAA national championship victory and was named to the All-Final Four team. In his senior season (2014-15), he averaged 17.4 points and 3.8 assists per game and was a finalist for the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award.

University of San Francisco Head Coach Chris Gerlufsen welcomed Boatright, stating, “We are very excited to welcome Ryan Boatright to our basketball family here at USF. Ryan had an illustrious career as a player, dating back to winning a national championship at UConn in 2014. After a strong professional career, I am thrilled to have Ryan bring his experience and wealth of knowledge to our program and players. I know Ryan is eager to start building relationships here on the Hilltop.”
