The Anaheim Ducks recalled center Roger McQueen from their American Hockey League affiliate, the San Diego Gulls, on October 13, 2026. The move coincided with placing Ducks center Ryan Poehling on Injured Reserve due to a lower-body injury.
McQueen, 20, has started the 2026-27 AHL season strong with three goals and a plus-2 rating in three games. The 6-foot-5, 206-pound forward signed a three-year entry-level contract with Anaheim on April 18, 2026. He has totaled six points (four goals, two assists) in 11 career AHL games since making his pro debut at the end of the 2025-26 season.
Before turning professional, McQueen earned the 2025-26 Hockey East Rookie of the Year honor and was named to the All-Rookie Team after recording 27 points (11 goals, 16 assists) and a plus-5 rating in 36 games at Providence College. He ranked second in assists and third in points and goals on his team, while posting a 55.1% faceoff win percentage—eighth nationally among rookies.
McQueen also accumulated 86 points in 127 Western Hockey League games with the Brandon Wheat Kings from 2022 to 2025. Internationally, he contributed to Canada’s gold medal victories at the 2024 U-18 World Championship and 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, scoring seven points in five games at the latter tournament.
CSB Take
The Anaheim Ducks recalling Roger McQueen demonstrates their trust in his ability to compete at the NHL level after impressive showings in college and the AHL. With Ryan Poehling sidelined, McQueen adds size, scoring touch, and faceoff prowess to Anaheim’s center depth. This promotion underscores the Ducks’ focus on integrating talented young players from their development system into the NHL roster.
