Azusa Pacific Cougars men's soccer fell 3-0 to Caltech at North Field, struggling with a depleted lineup and limited shots on goal while conceding an early goal and two second-half scores.

Azusa Pacific University men’s soccer team lost 3-0 to the Caltech Beavers on September 23, 2026, at North Field in Pasadena. The Cougars faced a difficult challenge with a lineup missing several starters and limited substitutions after playing a full game the night before.

Caltech scored an early goal in the second minute and held a 1-0 lead at halftime. The Beavers extended their lead with two more goals, one shortly after the second half began and another near the end, securing the victory.

Jacob Cristo started in goal for Azusa Pacific, making two saves. The Cougars managed only two shots on goal, by Jeremiah Botros and Ivan Vitela, both within the first 20 minutes. Overall, the Cougars were outshot 13-10, with Caltech holding a 5-2 advantage in shots on goal.

Azusa Pacific’s defeat brought their season record to 4-3-1. The Cougars will look to rebound on September 26 when they host Occidental at 7:00 p.m. at the Cougar Soccer Complex.

CSB Take

This loss highlights the challenges Azusa Pacific faces when competing with a depleted roster on back-to-back days. Limited bench depth and missing key starters hindered both their offensive production and defensive stamina. Looking ahead, the Cougars will need to recover their full lineup and improve substitution options to compete effectively in upcoming SCIAC games.
