Biola Eagles men's soccer lost a tight 2-1 preseason game to Concordia University Irvine with Jeremy Larson scoring for Biola before a pair of penalty kick goals gave Concordia the victory. The match was played September 19, 2026, at Al Barbour Field in La Mirada.

LA MIRADA, Calif. 026026026026 The Biola Eagles men’s soccer team lost a close 2-1 contest to Concordia University Irvine on September 19, 2026, at Al Barbour Field, finishing their preseason with a 0-5-2 record.

Senior forward Jeremy Larson gave the Eagles an early advantage by scoring in the 22nd minute, assisted by junior midfielder Kyle Denn. Larson’s goal put Biola ahead 1-0 and energized the home crowd.

However, Concordia quickly responded with two penalty kick goals, one in the 23rd minute and another in the 27th minute, turning the score to 2-1 in favor of the visiting team. These goals proved decisive as the Eagles could not equalize the rest of the match.

Senior goalkeeper Elijah Mineiro played all 90 minutes in goal for Biola, conceding only the two penalty kick goals while making several saves throughout the game. Concordia outshot Biola 13 to 4 overall, controlling much of the midfield battle especially in the second half.

The game marked the 49th all-time meeting between the two programs, with Concordia recording their 18th victory in the series. The match saw physical intensity reflected by the eight yellow cards issued, five to Biola and three to Concordia.

Biola will start its PacWest Conference schedule next week on September 26 at home against Chaminade, looking to gain momentum after this preseason finale.

CSB Take

Biola’s narrow loss reveals both promise and areas for improvement. Jeremy Larson’s early goal showed offensive potential, but conceding two penalty kicks highlights defensive discipline and positioning issues the Eagles must address. Senior goalkeeper Elijah Mineiro’s steady performance remains a strength for the team. As PacWest play begins, Biola has a fresh opportunity to regroup, fine-tune its approach, and seek its first win of the season against conference opponents.
