The Sacramento River Cats were named finalists for three Minor League Baseball organizational awards, the club announced Oct. 2. The categories were the MiLB Together, Driving Diversity Forward and Future Star awards. The honors recognize different parts of the organization’s work.
The three areas of recognition
The community-service nomination covered programs involving local nonprofits, food access and opportunities to participate in baseball. Sacramento also highlighted 19 games connected with cultural celebrations and community causes. Those events supported its inclusion-focused nomination.
The club nominated sports sales training manager Kallie Harding for the Future Star category. Harding joined Sacramento in January and led its training program. The announcements identified finalist status rather than final award victories.
CSB Take
The nominations show how clubs are evaluated beyond wins and losses. Community programs and staff development affect the organization throughout the year. Sustaining those efforts is the practical test after the recognition.
