Simon Fraser defeated Biola University men's and women's swimming & diving teams at Lansing Pool on September 26, 2026, despite multiple strong individual and relay performances by Biola athletes.

Simon Fraser defeated Biola University in both the women’s and men’s swimming & diving meets on September 26, 2026, at Lansing Pool in La Mirada, California. The Simon Fraser women’s team won 88-60, while the men’s team triumphed 90-58.

Despite the team losses, Biola’s swimmers posted notable individual and relay successes. Izzy Maust won the women’s 100 freestyle, finishing in 54.55 seconds. For the men, Wyatt Miner captured first place in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:56.35, closely followed by teammate Zach Ponder in second place at 1:59.80.

Biola’s women’s 200 medley relay team—Jillian Bean, Lydia Hawthorne, Allison Yancey, and Izzy Maust—secured first place with a time of 1:51.28, with a second Biola team finishing second. The men’s 200 freestyle relay team of Ben Smith, Henry Bokma, James Darcy, and Koen Vos recorded a win in 1:26.82, narrowly edging Simon Fraser. The men’s 200 medley relay team (Jack Green, Jack Snyder, Zach Ponder, and Ryan Wells) finished a close second, trailing by just 0.01 seconds.

Additional standouts on the women’s side included Rachel Munch, who placed second in the 200 freestyle; Chloe Colvard, who earned two runner-up finishes in the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke; Allison Yancey (third in 100 backstroke); Malia Ciolli (third in 100 breaststroke); Lydia Hawthorne (fourth in 100 breaststroke); and Emilee Elizondo and Jillian Bean, who finished third and fourth respectively in the 100 butterfly.

Among the men, Zach Ponder secured second place finishes in both the 200 freestyle and 200 individual medley. Tate Fitzgerald was runner-up in the 100 breaststroke, while Jack Snyder placed fourth. Jarrod Coy earned third place in the 100 butterfly, with James Darcy fifth. Koen Vos finished second in the 100 freestyle, followed by Coy in fourth.

Biola University will return to Lansing Pool on October 9, 2026, to face Alaska Fairbanks in their next scheduled home meet.

CSB Take

Although Simon Fraser won decisively in both meets, Biola University’s swimming & diving teams demonstrated strong competitiveness through multiple individual and relay performances. The narrow finishes in relay events and the standout swims by athletes such as Izzy Maust and Wyatt Miner highlight the potential for growth within the Eagles’ squads. These efforts serve as a foundation for Biola to build upon as they prepare for upcoming competitions, including their October home meet against Alaska Fairbanks.
