Point Loma Nazarene University Women’s Soccer handed No. 14 Concordia University Irvine their first loss of the season with a 2-1 victory on the road on September 19, 2026. Priya Torres scored both goals for Point Loma, including an early strike just 4 minutes and 40 seconds into the match and a go-ahead goal three minutes after Concordia equalized.
The initial goal came after Maddy Saruwatari played a ball wide right to Madison Khan, who beat her defender to the byline and crossed to Torres for a first-time finish. After leading 1-0 at halftime and outshooting Concordia 5-3 in the first half, the Golden Eagles tied the game in the 63rd minute. However, Jenna Bisset then played a forward ball to Nikki Ross, who made a run behind the defense to set up Torres for her second goal.
Goalkeeper Cameron Simmons made five saves in her second start for the Sea Lions, helping hold Concordia to just one goal. Head Coach Kristi Kiely praised the team’s competitiveness, the sharp back line, and the performances of Torres and Simmons after the win.
With the victory, Point Loma improved to 3-2-3 overall, entering PacWest Conference play on a two-game winning streak. The Sea Lions will open conference play at home against Chaminade on September 24, 2026, at 12:30 p.m.
